Dr. Laughlin's performance and pedagogy teachers have included Gail Steward, Sam Viviano, Yukiko Whitehead (Suzuki piano), John Valerio (jazz piano) and Scott Price. He has also studied music theory and music theory pedagogy with Dorothy Payne and composition with Samuel Douglas.
